ABOUT THE PROJECT
The Art of Being Normal by Lisa Williamson is a powerful coming-of-age novel that follows two British teenagers—David Piper and Leo Denton—who are both struggling with identity and acceptance. David has known since childhood that he wants to be a girl but has never told anyone except his two best friends. At school, he's bullied and labeled as "weird," and at home, he's afraid of disappointing his parents. Leo, on the other hand, is the new kid with a mysterious past and a tough exterior, trying to keep a low profile after transferring schools.
When David and Leo’s paths cross, an unexpected friendship forms, and they slowly begin to reveal their secrets to each other. The story explores themes of gender identity, self-acceptance, friendship, and the courage it takes to be true to yourself in a world that often demands conformity. With compassion and emotional depth, Williamson shines a light on the challenges faced by transgender teens while delivering a hopeful and heartwarming narrative about finding your voice and your place in the world.

I had the opportunity to record and edit The Art of Being Normal by Lisa Williamson, a powerful and emotionally resonant story centered around identity and self-discovery. Throughout the project, I focused on capturing clean, high-quality vocal recordings that conveyed the depth and nuance of the characters’ voices.
In post-production, I applied detailed audio editing techniques to ensure clarity, consistency, and pacing, including noise reduction, EQ balancing, and precise dialogue editing. The result was a polished, immersive listening experience that honored the book’s tone and message, while meeting industry standards for audiobook distribution.
